چکیده

Wireless ad-hoc networks are characterized by the lack of infrastructure, use of wireless links with limited bandwidth and frequent topological changes. On-demand multipath routing in wireless ad-hoc networks is effective in providing resilience to route failures and to successful load balancing. Previous work shows that on-demand multipath routing protocols achieve lower end-to-end delay, routing overheads and higher goodput under certain scenarios when compared to traditional single-path counterparts. In this paper, a Shortest Multipath Source Routing (SMS) protocol is proposed a multipath extension to DSR supporting multimedia applications. The proposed protocol builds multiple partialdisjoint paths that are shorter when compared to multiple linkdisjoint or node-disjoint paths and, in so doing, reduce delays and overheads incurred when recovering from route breaks. Simulation results show that the protocol achieves lower end-toend delay and higher goodput compared with DSR and SMR. Multipath Node-Disjoint Routing with Backup List Based on the AODV Protocol

In recent years, routing has been the most focused area in ad hoc networks research. On-demand routing in particular, is widely developed in bandwidth constrained mobile wireless ad hoc networks because of its effectiveness and efficiency. Most proposed on-demand routing protocols are built and relied on single route for each data session. Whenever there is a link disconnection on the active ro...

The Feedback Based Mechanism for Video Streaming Over Multipath Ad Hoc Networks

Ad hoc networks are multi-hop wireless networks without a pre-installed infrastructure. Such networks are widely used in military applications and in emergency situations as they permit the establishment of a communication network at very short notice with a very low cost. Video is very sensitive for packet loss and wireless ad-hoc networks are error prone due to node mobility and weak links. H...

Performance Comparison of Two On-demand Multi Path Routing Protocols for Ad Hoc Networks

In recent years, on-demand routing protocols have attained more attention in mobile ad hoc networks as compared to other routing schemes due to their abilities and efficiency. There exist many ondemand routing protocols for Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETS). Most of the protocols, however, use a single route and do not utilize multiple alternate paths. Multi path routing allows the establishment ...

Extended Disjoint Multipath Routing Protocol for the Ad Hoc Wireless Network

The ad hoc network consists of mobile hosts which communicate with each other by radio media. The mobile host must route data to the host within the radio range by hopping to the destination host. Since the hosts are mobile and the network topology is variable, routing protocols have been an important research issue in the network area. On-demand routing protocol is an efficient protocol in the...

An Extended Dynamic Source Routing Scheme in Ad Hoc Wireless Networks

In this paper we consider a multipath extension to the dynamic source routing (DSR) protocol proposed by Johnson and Maltz, an on-demand routing protocol for ad hoc wireless networks. This extension keeps two node disjoint paths between the source and the destination of a routing process without introducing extra overhead. Several optimization options are also considered. Simulation is conducte...
